HOW DO WE WORK?

We deliver Delicious daily made meals to your door or office monday through friday (except during the summers when we are closed Fridays). Our delivery hours are 9am to 4pm but typically we are done by 2pm. We have those buffer hours for weather and traffic issues. Monday meals are delivered monday, Tuesday on Tuesday, etc.

To get our wonderful services, you have to place your order by 3pm the day before you want delivery. If you’d like monday meals, then you order by 3pm on Sunday, etc. You can order for the entire week on sunday also. We also have subscriptions available if you’d like to just order once and have it renew weekly.

If you do not live in our delivery area (Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Wilton, Westport, Darien, Greenwich)- then you have to pay a delivery fee. Those fees are based on distance from our kitchen and go directly to our driver for his extra work. These fees must be included during checkout under driver/delivery fees on our order page. If you’d like to know our daily delivery fees, please email us at: hello@maikanafoods.com. You can also kindly add this fee to your check out if you’d like to tip our very hardworking delivery person.


What does Maikana mean? Our executive chef is Fijian and “mai kana” means “come & eat” in Fijian. Fijians love mealtime and its an invitation they use frequently.

How do you prounonce Maikana? It is pronounced “my-kah-nah”

What is a power bowl? You will hear about power bowls, Buddha bowls, macro bowls, hippy bowls, acai bowls and protein bowls all over the internet. These are entire meals within one bowl. They can be made up of whatever you want but we like to rely heavily on plant proteins, greens and vegetables with a little animal protein in the mix. This is a fun way to mix up healthy eating! You can always opt out of the animal proteins if you are a vegetarian.

If you live outside our delivery area, please contact us…we do deliver to some areas for an added delivery fee that is given directly to our driver for gas.

Fairfield: add $5 per delivery day. Ridgefield: base $10 per delivery day. Weston: base $10 per delivery day. Weston & Ridgefield are subject to distance and delivery fee can vary.

What time will my delivery arrive? We begin deliveries at 9am every morning and deliver until 4pm. Depending on traffic, deliveries for the day, weather, etc. you will receive your order during this time. We cannot give you an exact time. This time is also not guaranteed. We are a very small company and deliveries take time. Please be patient and understanding! You can request a text message when your order is delivered. Please request this in the additional information section during check out.

But I want breakfast, and it may not be delivered until 4pm? We recommend you order breakfast for the following day. Meaning your order will arrive between 9am-4pm so any breakfast you receive should be eaten the next morning. our days on menu only specify when your meals are being delivered, not when they are to be eaten.

Can I pick up Maikana Foods somewhere? due to covid, we currently do not allow pick up. please check back in the future.

How much is delivery? It’s free! Can’t beat that. (if you are outside of our delivery area, a delivery fee may be charged but has to be ok-ed by Maikana, so please email us to discuss: hello@maikanafoods.com)

How do I reheat my meals? We recommend you remove the meals from the packaging and reheat with your preferred method. All meals can be warmed on the stove top or microwave or oven at low temperature. Just until warmed through. All meals are cooked completely so there is no need for added cook time.

Do you have a store front? No, we do not have a store front. We operate in the digital world only. 

Where are the prices? All pricing can be found on our Order page. Please email us if you have any questions about pricing. 

Do you have gift certificates? Yes, we do, they can be found on our order page under gift of health. These are non-refundable.

How does the thermal bag work? Unfortunately, we no longer carry thermal bags. most of our clients leave out coolers & ice packs for our delivery if they will not be home. see below.

Can I provide my own cooler/thermal bag? Yes, please do! We are happy to deliver to your cooler. Just leave it outside before delivery arrives.

Can I sign up for Maikana deliveries long term? We have membership subscriptions. Please see our Membership options under our Programs section. Or Click HERE.

I have allergies/dietary restrictions. Do you cater to that? We absolutely try our best to satisfy all customers’ needs. Please contact us with any allergy related questions prior to ordering. There is a section in the checkout process where you can list all allergies or aversions. But we cannot remove major ingredients from certain dishes- i.e. onions or garlic.

Do you have vegetarian/vegan options? Majority of our bowls can be made vegetarian/vegan. It depends on the menu item. Please reach out to us to see how we can cater to your style of eating.

I was given a gift certificate, how do I redeem that? Please use the code emailed to you during checkout. It will ask for your promo/discount/gift code, enter it there.

Why does it say “Sold Out” when I try to order? We are a very small team and it takes time and love to make each of our meals. For that reason we only sell a certain amount per day. We are so sorry you missed out on an item but feel free to email us and see if we can work something out! Otherwise check back for tomorrow’s menu.

Why can’t I order a bowl the same day for delivery? Why does it have to be ordered by 3pm the day before? We purchase our ingredients daily to ensure you the freshest food each day. Buying, prepping, and cooking your meals takes time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I love your salad dressing but the serving portion is too small. Can I have more? Of course! We do the healthy recommendation of 3 oz of salad dressing for our bowls but we are happy to accommodate your request for more. Just ask in the "additional information" section during the check out section. 

I missed a power bowl that looked really good. Will it be on the menu again? We love that you love our food! We would be happy to hear about the meal you wish you had ordered or a meal that you love and want to see on our menu again. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Why is my power bowl delivered cold? We chill all our products for delivery. It is the safest way to get our food to you. We know you might like your chicken warm on a salad but for your safety, we have to deliver it cold. 

How can I find out what the weekly menu will be? Please sign up for Maikana emails. We send out a weekly menu every Friday. It is also posted here on our website under "Upcoming Menu". 

Do you provide utensils? Unfortunately, we do not. We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and about 40 billion plastic utensils end up in landfills each year. Yikes!! 

I am not happy with my delivery, what can I do? Please email us right away (hello@maikanafoods.com) if a meal was not to your standard or there was confusion with a delivery. We are happy to right any wrongs on OUR part. Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.

I love a salad dressing/food item. Can I have the recipe? We are so happy you love our food enough to want to recreate it at home. Email us and ask. Unless it’s a family sworn secret- it’s yours!
