A lil' reminder for today…

Sometimes we know deep in our hearts what we want and what we deserve. And those things somehow don't work out because that is not what we actually need. And it is tough to reconcile what is in our hearts, heads and then what is actual reality. But the universe is always conspiring in your favor, even when it feels like it is not. I listen to my friends and family members and their struggles and losses, and it is so tough to justify the whys. It is heartbreaking. The world is not always filled with magic and unicorns. I would say that it is mostly filled with difficult situations that need to be trudged through and overcome. Or at least it seems that way at my age. Life is certainly not easy.

But today is a reminder that through all of it- you have the power to laugh and find moments of joy. You have the power to see slivers of gratitude. You have the power to be the good in someone's world. You have the power to be kind and generous with your loving spirit. You have the power to open up doors for other people. You have the power to be a listening ear. You have the power to hold someone tight. You have the power to forgive and say you're sorry. You have the power to own your flaws. You have the power to dig a little deeper. You have the power of sharing your stories and struggles to help others. You have the power of self-awareness and how you treat others. You have the power to heal your wounds. And above all, you have the power to share your love with the world. You are not alone in this journey. Connection is your superpower. Use it wisely today. Find a way to share your love with the world. And I promise you, it will love you back. 

I did not feel this way a while back, nor did I believe it. But when one door closes, another one does indeed open. And you have the power to do that by staying true to your heart and its path and by sharing your love and genuine intentions with the world. 

I sit writing this on a beautiful patio overlooking a gorgeous tropical garden with strange bird sounds and beautiful energy all around me on my first morning in Bali. I just witnessed a woman walk around the property leaving small bowls of flowers, fruits, herbs, food & incense all over altars and in random spots in the garden. I asked why they do this and was told that it is an offering to the Gods to thank them for all our bounties, to thank them for the sun and the rain and to protect us from negative spirits and only let the good spirits come on the property. So simple and so beautiful. And this was my takeaway: sometimes we have to offer up and sacrifice parts of ourselves in order to keep the beauty and magic flowing. But the universe is always paying attention. It will give you exactly what you need, not necessarily what you want. But it always knows what is best.
